The Kenyon City Council held its regularly scheduled meeting on May 8th, 2012 at City Hall.
The Council opened the meeting with the approval of minutes from previous meetings and the presentation of visitors/public hearings. Steve Martin, Director of All Seasons Community Services was present to address the Council. After thanking Martin for taking the time to come to the meeting, the Council moved on to the next item on the agenda, which was the engineering report.
City Engineer Joe Palen presented the Council with updates on several ongoing projects around the city starting with an update on the Highway 56 project. He then walked the Council through the current status of the proposed sanitary sewer televising project and the facilities plan. The Facilities plan is moving forward. The next step is to send the Intended Use Plan Letter to the PFA, which had just been completed at the time of the meeting. The Council also heard a concept plan for the proposed fire station.
The Council then moved on to the next item on the agenda, which was the approval of an alcohol permit for Security State Bank. This was followed by the annual renewal of liquor licenses for the Kenyon Country Club, VFW Post 141 and Papa’s Kenyon Family Restaurant. The Council was also updated on the status of acquiring an easement for the TH 56 project. They also approved a lease agreement for the Hanke Ready Mix Plant.
After the approval of financials, the Council moved on to the next item on the agenda which was the approval of two resolutions. Resolution 2012-18: a resolution establishing absentee ballot board and resolution 2012-19: a resolution granting approval of a conditional use permit for apartments on the second story of a building were both approved. The Council then considered the Luis Tellez lot use agreement, which was approved, before moving on to the hiring of lifeguards and a pool manager.
The Council then approved a Memorial Day parade permit and agreed upon the formation of a festival committee.
The Kenyon City Council will hold its next regularly scheduled meeting on June 12th, 2012 at City Hall.
