Carl Lawrence Mortenson, age 89 of Faribault, passed away on November 2, 2025, at The Emeralds of Faribault, following a brave battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Memorial Services celebrating the life of Carl will be held at Boldt Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Faribault, on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dean Wolf, a long-time family friend, officiating. Private interment will be held at the Cathedral of Our Merciful Saviour, Faribault.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Friday.

Carl was born on March 1, 1936, in Cannon Falls. He graduated from Kenyon High School and completed one year at the University of Minnesota. Carl married Jeanie (Ruths) Mortenson on December 5, 1958. Together they raised children Allan, Wendy, and John.

Carl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was known for his incredible work ethic and commitment to providing the best life for his family. He often worked several jobs, looking for better opportunities to care for his family’s needs. He began as a welder, a postal worker, and a fireman, which led Carl to Mortenson Fire and Safety, Inc., a business he founded and operated for 26 years. He took great pride in his work and friendships.

Carl was known for his calm strength, humbled nature, and very kind and gentle demeanor. He lived life to the fullest; he was a fun-loving man who was an avid reader. Carl and Jeanie enjoyed traveling, taking numerous cruises. They vacationed with each of their five grandchildren at Disneyland, creating many beautiful memories. Together, they loved exploring unique communities in search of antiques, adventure, and good food. Carl was a talented stained-glass artist, creating many beautiful works of art.

Carl is survived by his wife, Jeanie Mortenson; children, Allan (Debbie) Mortenson, Wendy (Craig) Laughridge, John Mortenson; grandchildren, Jonah Mortenson, Lance (Jodi) Laughridge, Larissa (Justin) Nalipinski, Leah Mortenson (Rob Czech), Lee (Ashley) Laughridge; 12 great grandchildren; his beloved dog, Sammy; numerous nieces and nephews.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Ella Mortenson; siblings, Marie, Olive, Hazel, Martin, Harold; father-in-law, John Ruths; mother-in-law, Ruth Ruths; brother-in-law, Jack Ruths.

In place of flowers, memorials to honor Carl may be directed to Brighton Hospice or Believet Canine Service Partners.
