Sighting continuing efficiency and operation efforts, CFS (Central Farm Service) has continued to sell off smaller elevator locations in their trade area, this year, closing the Dennison location. CFS had wound down operations at the Dennison location in the past year, while continuing to grow its Randolph location.
CFS representatives stated, "as these older locations age and smaller farmers retire, it is not cost effective to make the necessary upgrades to accommodate the larger scale farmers at these smaller elevators. Consolidating is a necessary business decision."
Earlier this fall, the Dennison location was sold to a local farm partnership. The Dennison location is now privately owned. The bin site will continue to be used for crop storage and the former office and warehouse on main street will be leased to another agri business, Gobin Seeds.
