With the 2025-26 wrestling season at an end, the KW wrestling team finished on a high note. Kicking off the season with multiple matches, the KW team overcame teams from Medford, Westfield, and surrounding communities. With multiple wins, the KW wrestling team qualified for sectionals and continued climbing to the top, earning first place in the Gopher Conference. After a season of hard work and dedication, six members from the KW wrestling team were selected to compete in the MSHSL championships. The championship was held in the Grand Casino Arena in Saint Paul at the end of February. The event ended with three members of the KW wrestling team placing at the state level. Liam Sommer earned first place in the class A-114 section. At the state competition, Ryan LaCanne earned second place, and Bryan Jacobson earned third place.

Nathan Lexvold, the KW Wrestling head coach, in describing this year's team, says he is “proud of these guys” for putting in the effort and dedication needed to accomplish so much this season. Lexvold says it felt “awesome” to end the season with such “impressive results.” He commented on the important life lessons that wrestling teaches, such as self-discipline and hard work. Not only is wrestling an individual sport, but it is also dependent on the team. Lexvold highlighted that it’s the “combination of individuals [that] helps the team.” Lexvold has been the head coach of the team for seven years. This is the second time he has helped the team reach the state level since becoming head coach. He says it's been a “fun year coaching them.” His goal for the team this next year is to reach the sectional finals and get to the state level again.
