The lot across from the fire station was a buzz with animals, food and fun!
Yard games, face painting and water fights were some of the activities set up by the Lions, the Firemen and the Commercial Club, so a big thank you goes out to them, and all the folks in the background, making things happen.
At 2:30, the parade marched and drove down Main Street to Beverly and back again, to the thrill of the crowd, and lasted over 40 minutes....about twice as long as last year. There were golf carts and floats, and candy was being thrown to the kids on the street, big and small. Bouncy balls were bouncing and freeze pops were melting, and everyone was having a great time, despite the above 90 degree weather. I don't think I have ever seen the streets so packed with onlookers, enjoying the spectacle!!
A silent auction was held at the Community Center, and there were food wagons like Tequila's and the Fox Wagon set up with their fare.
A horseshoe tournament was held at the park, and the Keg Toss and Bean Bag Tournament at JB's were well attended.
A free open swim was enjoyed at the now 50 year old pool.
Hot dogs, cotton candy and sundaes were served at Second Shift by the Lions Club. And last but not least, the Fireworks!
So, as we wrap up yet another Independence Day Celebration, let's all remember to be thankful for the joy we share in the country we live in, and the freedoms that we are blessed with because of those who serve and have served this great country we call home.
