What to do for fun in the snow

Steeplechase, the ski, snow board and tubing resort outside Mazeppa is open for winter sports enjoyment. The 172 acre mountain also boasts a 7,000 square foot chalet which doubles as a wedding event center. They are in their fifth year of business for tubing and the third year for skiing and snow boarding. They now offer 24 runs, four chairlifts, a tubing hill and rental shop for skis and snow boards.

The ski and snow board hill has a 200 foot vertical drop with slopes for all experience levels. Snow making equipment ensures there is always a good base of snow on the hill. There are two double chair lifts and two triple chair lifts to keep runs moving. The rental shop stocks over 450 skis for all ages as well as snow boards. The chalet has a café inside for snacks while you warm up or rest. The ski and snowboard slopes are open Saturday from 10am to 9pm and Sunday from 10am to 7pm. Lift tickets are $55.00 per day and rental skis and boots, including helmet is $40.00.

There are 3 tubing lanes that are 700 feet long. A tow will pull you and your tube back to the top of the hill between runs. Every evening at sundown you can enjoy Extreme Night Tubing with laser lights and music to set the mood. The tubing lanes are open Friday 5 to 9pm, Saturday 10am to 9pm and Sunday 10am to 7pm. One hour of tubing is $18.00, two hours is $25.00 and four hours is $40.00. Tubes are provided.

Season passes start at $300.00 for individuals and there are family passes available. The season pass allows unlimited days and provides discounts at 47 other resorts, including three in Minnesota, eight in Wisconsin and two in Iowa.
