Virginia Mae Fordahl Aase

Virginia Mae Fordahl Aase, 94, formerly of Kenyon, died Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at The Commons on Marice in Eagan, Minnesota.

Virginia was born June 29, 1930 in rural Kenyon to the late Kenneth and Ila Haugen Fordahl. She graduated from Kenyon High School in 1948 where she was recruited to work for the Kenyon Mercantile and Elevator Co. She married Wallace “Wally” on July 13, 1951. They were married for over 66 years. While Virginia and Wally were dating, they went to the movies on Wednesdays and dancing on Saturdays. This was a tradition that long continued into their married years. She loved to snowmobile, and she was an avid quilter. She made quilts for her children and all the grandchildren as well.

She is survived by her children, Sharon (Bill) Schmidt of Eagan, Roxanne (Paul) Perreault of Waconia, Kathleen (Dennis Merritt) Merritt Aase of Morristown and Gerald (Kathy) Aase of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Katrina (Bly), Mitchell (Megan), Zachary (Adriana), Nicholas, Kayley, Jamie (Ryan), Justine (Jeramy) and Joseph (Samantha); great-grandchildren, Trenton, Zachary, Audrey, Elizabeth, Zeke, Beckham, Autumn and Silas. One brother, Arlen Fordahl.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Wallace R. Aase; one sister, Helen Fleming.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 13, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenyon with visitation beginning at 1 pm. Interment will be in the Gol Lutheran Cemetery followed by a lunch reception back at First Evangelical Lutheran.
